Jeans

The word jeans come from gene fustian. Fustian was the name of the cotton cloth that was used for making jeans, and gene was an adjective in old English meaning that comes from Genoa, the Italian city where the fustian was made. In time the spelling became jeans and they became very popular around 1960.

The word money comes from the Latin word moneta, which was the surname of Juno, the Roman Goddess and protector of the Roman State. In Rome there was a temple built in her honor, and it was there that the first coins were minted. She was considered to be guardian of the finances of the Empire. The word moneta gave then origin to the English words monetary and money.
